Nagat Mansour
I hold a Bachelor's in Art Education from Cairo University and have completed preliminary Master's studies in Sculpture there. I've taught art to children aged 8-18 and worked with organizations like CECF and Caritas Egypt. Currently, I'm a partner in the Puppetshino project, focusing on puppet making and puppeteering. I also enjoy music, writing, reading, and recycling. My goal is to contribute positively to society and the planet through my creative work, particularly with children's art and puppet theater.
My Journey
My artistic journey began with a degree in Art Education from Cairo University, followed by preliminary Master's studies in Sculpture. My exploration continued with free studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, where I specialized in puppet making, learning about marionettes, puppets, glove puppets, and muppets. This deepened my interest in the art of puppetry, culminating in my involvement with the Puppetshino project. My childhood was filled with art; I loved drawing, coloring, and always had a curiosity about the construction of objects.
Puppetshino successfully reached over 200 children aged 3 to 18 through more than 35 training workshops in various arts and puppetry, including puppet manufacturing and movement techniques. These workshops were conducted in diverse locations such as The Campers Hut, Child Expo, Healthovea World, Montessoria Journey, Maker Fair Cairo, and other venues.
Furthermore, the project has facilitated and organized numerous events at locations like the Egypt Public Library and Maryland Park, including the impactful Maker Faire Cairo & Caritas Egypt with Sudanese refugees.
A wide array of diverse puppets have been crafted and sold, not only within Egypt but also internationally, reaching markets in Qatar, Sudan, and the Emirates.
Beyond puppetry, the project has also facilitated group sports activities for both children and adults, contributing to overall well-being.
