Ahmed Saeed
This is Ahmed Saeed, an engineer, entrepreneur, and advocate for sustainability. I hold a BSc in Production Engineering & Mechanical Design and have 3+ years of experience in digital fabrication, and business development. My passion lies in merging innovation with sustainability to tackle pressing challenges, which led me to found Drop Me, an AI-driven solid waste management startup.
What sets me apart is my ability to turn ideas into tangible solutions. I believe in crafting not just products but also systems that empower communities to live more sustainably. Designing from scratch and committing to 100% local manufacturing have become cornerstones of my work. I consider myself a maker because I find joy in creation—whether it's developing a recycling vending machine, mentoring students, or building impactful partnerships. For me, being a maker is about seeing possibilities where others see problems and transforming them into realities.
My Journey
Well, it’s a long story, but briefly—when I was a kid, I was obsessed with عبقرينو from كعبول وعبقرينو. He wasn’t just a character to me—he was an inspiration. The way he faced everyday challenges with clever inventions sparked my imagination. I remember watching him and thinking, What if I could create things that solve problems too? That’s when it all began.
I started small—pulling apart old toys to see how they worked and using scraps around the house to build simple gadgets. I wasn’t always successful (and often got into trouble for breaking stuff!), but that curiosity stayed with me.
Then came the Maker Diploma during the summer of 2021, my last summer before graduation. It was a dream come true—filled with passion, hands-on learning, and warm connections with like-minded creators. This experience transformed that childhood spark into something real. I learned the tools of engineering while keeping the playful creativity I admired in عبقرينو.
Combining both, I started designing solutions that weren’t just functional but also impactful. Eventually, this passion led me to found Drop Me, where I could channel these skills into sustainability—an area close to my heart.
I’ve always believed that being a maker isn’t just about building things; it’s about seeing challenges as opportunities to create, innovate, and contribute. It’s shaped who I am and how I see the world.
