Mostafa Khalifa

I’m Mostafa Khalifa, an industrial designer and a graduate of Applied Arts. I started my career as a home furniture designer, then worked in product printing, and eventually transitioned into digital manufacturing and 3D printing. I’m a person with diverse passions—you’ll find me enthusiastic about design, teaching, photography, content creation, clay sculpting, woodworking, digital manufacturing, handcrafting, theater, psychology, and sociology.

After some time, I decided to combine these passions and started creating content on YouTube. I launched a channel called “Dorg Khalifa” (Khalifa's Drawer), where I explore the history of product and object design, teach software and various skills, and showcase DIY projects and products in a documentary style.  My interests revolve around my passions but also include reading, blogging, horseback riding, traveling, cooking, and football.

I consider myself a maker because after learning about the maker movement and realizing how my work aligns with it, I discovered that what I do qualifies me as a maker. I’m happy to be part of this amazing community.

My Journey

My journey started very early, back when I was a kid and used to be chosen to handle the creative activities for my class at school.  What helped me the most was that my father was a craftsman, serving as the window through which I was introduced to this world. It made me fall in love with it and motivated me to explore and learn different crafts. This passion drove me to join the Faculty of Applied Arts because I felt it was the perfect place that combines beauty with practicality—art with engineering and craftsmanship.

But it didn’t stop there. My journey truly took off when I joined the Industrial Design Department, which became the first step in learning these skills professionally. I’ve always loved learning, teaching, and playing, and this passion continues to drive me forward.
